License and notices
NanumPlayer is free software. You can use, study, change and share it under the terms of the GNU General Public License, version 2 or (at your option) any later version (SPDX: GPL-2.0-or-later).
- LICENSE: the full license text.
- THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md: every bundled component, its license and where to get its source.
- Source code, with the modified mpv and whisper.cpp forks it builds on.
What it is built on
Section titled “What it is built on”| Component | License |
|---|---|
mpv (modified as NanumPlayer.exe) |
GPL-2.0-or-later |
| whisper.cpp and ggml (speech recognition) | MIT |
| FFmpeg, as built in the released binaries | GPL-3.0-or-later |
| libass (subtitle rendering) | ISC |
| Silero VAD and Whisper model files (optional downloads) | MIT |
Because the released binaries link a GPL-3.0 build of FFmpeg, the distributed binaries as a whole are governed by the GPL version 3. NanumPlayer’s own source code permits this (“version 2 or any later version”). See the notices file for the complete list.
NVIDIA cuBLAS
Section titled “NVIDIA cuBLAS”The optional cuBLAS download (cublas64_13.dll, cublasLt64_13.dll) is NVIDIA software and is subject to NVIDIA’s CUDA redistribution terms, which you must accept before NanumPlayer downloads it. If you already have a CUDA 13 Toolkit installed, NanumPlayer uses its files in place and nothing is downloaded.
Disc libraries
Section titled “Disc libraries”The Blu-ray/DVD decryption libraries are third-party components distributed separately, with their own licenses (LGPL-2.1-or-later for libaacs and libbdplus, GPL-2.0-or-later for libdvdcss). See Optional Blu-ray/DVD decryption components.
Name and warranty
Section titled “Name and warranty”NanumPlayer comes with no warranty, as described in the license. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with mpv, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Ollama, Google or YouTube.
